10 Years in Oklahoma State Prison

February 3, 2007 / by fowlnews

10 years in Oklahoma state prison, that's a stiff one!
Maybe the recent PETA littering trial that cost the lives of so many little furry puppies and cuddly kitties should have been in Oklahoma rather than North Carolina?

The positive of this Oklahoma case is no mention of the state or county government murdering our little feathered friends that were taken into custody because they were unfit to be adopted and were better off dead than alive.

But wait, what were five Texans and an Oklahoma Kiowa Indian doing in a metal building in June 2004 in Cotton County Oklahoma? Doesn't that seem a little strange?

And, what took Cotton County and the state of Oklahoma so long to bring these people to trial?
From June '04 to February '07????

And the five people are pleading NOT GUILTY?
This might be an interesting Okie case to follow, even if the PETA death squads aren't involved.
Stay Tuned For Justice, Oklahoma Style...........

Six plead not guilty to cockfighting charges

WALTERS, Okla. Five people from Texas have pleaded not guilty to felony cockfighting charges in Oklahoma.

The charges could carry up to 10 years in state prison.

The defendants are 61-year-old Melinda Myers, of San Angelo; 59-year-old Frank Myers, of San Angelo; 47-year-old Jesus Rufino Aviles, of Wichita Falls; 26-year-old Sergio Dominguez, of Wichita Falls, and 57-year-old Terry Rolen Hancock, of Alvarado.

An Oklahoma man, Mike C. Turner, is also charged.

Oklahomans approved a statewide ban on cockfighting in a referendum in November 2002. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the anti-cockfighting law was constitutional in 2004.

Cotton County deputies arrested the six in June 2004, on a complaint of cockfighting. They were taken into custody at a metal building equipped with a pit, arena seating, and holding pens.

But Turner _ a Kiowa tribal member _ argued he was operating on American Indian land.
