The Future of Religious Slaughter is Playing Out

In The HSUS Statement
"Farm Animals and Eating with Conscience"
An Excerpt Pertaining To Religious Slaughter Is As Follows......

While religious practices and beliefs should be respected, this must not lead to disregard for the welfare of animals in our care. In situations where there is a perceived conflict between religious practices and modern public health standards, it has sometimes been the practice to shackle and hoist conscious animals for ritual slaughter. This procedure causes immense animal suffering, but it forms no part of the requirements of any religious faith. Rather, it is a high-speed packinghouse technique invented by packers to comply with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's sanitary requirements and to expedite production. The HSUS opposes preparation of animals for slaughter by means of this procedure. It is our position that animals can be prepared for slaughter consistent with ritual requirements by humane alternatives such as the use of humane restraining pens. Ritual sacrifice of animals performed outside of regulated slaughterhouses is invariably cruel, and should be prosecuted as such.

You will notice the HSUS claims "religious practices and beliefs should be respected" and then clearly states "Ritual sacrifice of animals performed outside of regulated slaughterhouses is invariably cruel, and should be prosecuted as such" making the individual unable to pursue religious practices and beliefs unless performed within regulated slaughterhouses. At the same time the vegan founder and long-time Campaigns Manager of Compassion Over Killing (COK) Paul Shapiro who joined the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) staff as the manager of their new Factory Farming Campaign, works against agribusiness and promotes vegetarian eating. The ongoing HSUS campaign to shut down horse slaughterhouses gives another glimpse of what is in store for all regulated slaughterhouses in the future, an effective elimination of ritual sacrifice and all animal consumption. An example of what the future holds comes from the Humane Society of the United States’, John Paul "JP" Goodwin, previously of the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT) who has stated, "My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture". The abolition of all animal agriculture cannot become a reality until the Judeo-Christian ethic of dominion over animals is destroyed.
Do You Get The Feeling the HSUS Will NOT Respect Religious Practices And Beliefs Any More Than...

Can You See The Future Of The Judeo-Christian Ethic?
......But organizations fighting the ban number in the hundreds as well. State cattlemen's associations, pork and poultry producers, and farm bureaus oppose the measure, fearing it would give an opening for animal rights organizations to block the slaughter of other animals for food......

Horse Slaughtering: The New Terrorism?

Congress hasn't done much this year, but few bills have stirred more passion than one to protect horses from being turned into horsemeat
By DOUGLAS WALLLER/WASHINGTON
With all the other problems piling up — soaring energy costs, the war in Iraq, tens of millions of Americans with no health-care insurance, skyrocketing federal debt — Republicans were bound to get a kick in the rear when the only bill they considered this week on the House floor was one to look out for the welfare of horses. Democrats stampeded to complain. "I'm concerned about horses, but I'm much much more concerned about the American people," snapped House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. Others threatened to vote "ney" just to get in a pun.
